As a local Canberra business that serves the region’s trades and construction industry, Asset Construction Hire also believes in supporting local charities and our community at large.
Our vision is to find ways to contribute to the locals who need it most, and make Canberra a better place for future generations. We do this through an annual commitment to numerous registered Canberra charity organisations and community projects.
Although we do not accept unsolicited requests for donations, each year we assess formal applications for assistance based on merit and according to our guidelines below. Our donations can be in the form of financial assistance, purchases, or the loan of equipment .
Charities Supported
Hands Across Canberra
In 2022 we were proud to become the first Hands Across Canberra, Canberra Giving Day Appeal, corporate naming rights sponsor. Hands Across Canberra works with Canberran charitable organisations and social enterprises to improve the lives of disadvantaged and vulnerable people in our city. To help our large community sector get access to much needed funds, Hands Across Canberra raises money which is then allocated to those community organisations doing great work with our most vulnerable people.
2026 Charity House
As Master Builders ACT marks its centenary year, the construction sector has joined forces with Hands Across Canberra and the Chief Minister’s Charitable Fund for the 2026 Charity House project, to deliver a home built with purpose, care and community spirit. The project was launched at midday by Chief Minister Andrew Barr, Master Builders ACT President Frank Porecca, and Hands Across Canberra board chair Greg Boorer, at 128 Thancoupie St, Whitlam. The project marks the fourth Charity House collaboration between Master Builders ACT and Hands Across Canberra, reflecting a shared commitment to giving back to the community and addressing pressing social needs, a spokesperson said.
Funds raised from the home’s auction will go to local charities supporting Canberrans in need, focusing on victims and survivors of domestic and family violence.
Fourth-generation builders A+P Leemhuis will construct the house, supported by dozens of industry partners, including Asset Construction Hire, contributing time, materials and expertise.
Gears for Giving
Gears for Giving is a major biennial fundraising event, with all proceeds distributed to Hands Across Canberra. As an event partner, Asset Construction Hire funds the Annual Gala Dinner, with all ticket proceeds going 100% to Hands Across Canberra. This event has raised over $400,000 since 2022.
MIX106.3 Pack The Bus
Asset Construction Hire was a partner and gift drop-off point for Pack The Bus in 2025. Communities at Work and Transport Canberra collected donations of essential food and toys for families in need at Christmas time, and MIX106.3 promoted the bus’s visits to businesses, work site, retailers and schools around the region. Our general hire depot at 25 Cessnock Street Fyshwick will accepted donations from the public for this initiative, from 25th November to 12th December 2025.
Pegasus Riding for the Disabled
Pegasus takes great pride in providing horse facilitated therapy to people with disability. They are an iconic Canberra charity which exists to empower people to develop their abilities. Established in 1973, Pegasus is located at Pegasus Farm on the outskirts of Canberra. Around 80 people each week with a disability participate in horse-facilitated therapy programs. Why horseriding? Apart from being fun, horse riding helps to improve co-ordination, balance, muscle development and fitness. It also boosts confidence, self-esteem, communication skills, leadership and trust.
Country Hope Riverina Outback Rally
Country Hope provides emotional and financial support to country families who have a child diagnosed with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses. ACH has sponsored an entrant in the 2025 Riverina Outback Rally, an amazing and fun 5 day charity fundraising event.
Rise Above Capital Region Cancer Relief
The EJ EH Holden Modified Car Club’s annual Show n’ Shine event raises much needed funds for Rise Above Capital Region Cancer Relief. We’re proud to support this club and its fundraising work, as a sponsor in 2025 and 2026.
Community Projects
ANU Solar Racing
ANU Solar Racing is the Australian National University’s official solar racing team. They are a 100% student-run team that designs and builds solar powered cars to compete in the biennial Bridgestone World Solar Challenge (BWSC). They are a community dedicated to innovation, education and furthering the development of sustainable technology. In 2025 Asset Construction Hire loaned the team vehicles free of charge.
Commando Welfare Trust
Asset Construction Hire supported the Commando Welfare Trust vs Australian Parliamentary Sports Club fundraiser at RMC Duntroon in November 2024. This event was established in memory of Commando Jack Fitzgibbon, killed in a parachute accident this time last year. The Welfare Trust raises funds to support the families of Commandos and associated military support organisations with funding that cannot be covered by the Military and Aust Government.
Canberra Off Road Model Car Club
Asset Construction Hire sponsors the Canberra Offroad Model Car Club (CORMCC) which was formed over 30 years ago. In 2017 the club invested in the facilities upgrading the canteen, pit area, track and control tower creating what it is today, a world class venue. No matter what type of car you have, Buggy, Truggy, Short Course Truck, electric or nitro, old or new, bring it out to the track and have a go. You will be hooked in no time and your first race is free. The club promotes a family friendly environment and is open to all.
ACT Wakeboard
Asset Construction Hire is a gold sponsor of the 2025 and 2026 seasons of this local wakeboarding competition.
Queanbeyan Bowls Club
We know the importance of people having a place to go to meet and mix with people, and to pursue an interest. We are pleased to sponsor the Queanbeyan Bowls Club, the oldest active bowling club in the region.
National Capital Horse Trials Association
“Thank you for your support of the recent Canberra Horse Trials. Events like the Canberra Horse trials are very important in our annual calendar and your support is greatly appreciated. Applying for donations or sponsorship
Charity
Our main focus is on supporting local registered charity organisations, fundraisers and projects that benefit our region’s most vulnerable. Applications for donations, support or sponsorship are assessed on their merits and their ability to help those who need it most.
Community
We also accept applications for the sponsorship of local community and sports related events. We do not offer cash donations for such projects, however we can support many events through the supply of equipment. Equipment donated for a specific events requires a minimum of 14 days notice in writing, can not be booked more than 3 months in advance, and can not exceed a hire value of $500 / week. Equipment is subject to availability, and the seasonality of event seasons.
